Iceland goes in
Frozen food supermarket Iceland has just added 43 Cartwright multi-temperature refrigerated trailers to its fleet.
The order comes following advice from Cartwright and XPO – who run Iceland’s distribution centres – resulting in the supermarket upgrading its tandem axle unit to tri-axle trailers. After looking at the operational usage of the trailers, and considering the residual value of the tri-axles, Iceland decided to opt for the new trailers fitted with a Thermo King Spectrum fridges and DHollandia tail lifts.
The trailers have been supplied under a full contract hire package through Cartwright Financial Sales and will be maintained by Cartwright Fleet Services.
Dave Rowlands, Iceland’s operations and contracts manager, said: "We have purchased Cartwright trailers in the past and XPO Logistics also has a relationship with the company, so this much larger order was a real opportunity for them to demonstrate how they could build a considerable number of trailers to the timelines and quality we required. The trailers were were delivered ahead of time and the quality is good."
